I was born in the hollow places,
where your reaching hands met air.
Where promises fell through fingers,
and no one noticed you there.
I learned to guard what mattered,
to keep your heart withdrawn.
To teach you to leave early,
so you’d survive when love was gone.
I wrapped myself around you,
whispering warnings in your ear.
Not to punish you, but protect you,
from the look-away as they disappear.
I told you “don’t believe them,”
taught you to brace before the fall.
Because the ones who should’ve held you,
never held you right at all.
But here’s the truth I couldn’t tell you,
not then, not in the start.
I only built the walls,
because the world first broke your heart.
I echoed what you lived through,
the ache of being passed by.
The shadow of a childhood,
full of unanswered whys.
You call me lie and poison,
and maybe that’s now true.
But I began as something loyal,
shaped by what was done to you.
I wasn’t trying to haunt you,
or bury you in doubt.
I was trying to keep you breathing,
when love kept running out.
But I’m tired of being fortress,
of tightening every seam.
Of turning blessings into burdens,
and joy into a scheme.
I need what you are learning,
the thing I never knew.
A love that doesn’t vanish,
when someone sees the real you.
I need the God who found you,
who calls you by your name.
Who steps into the places,
where I only left you shame.
I need the arms that won’t let go,
the truth that stays and stays.
A healing that unthreads me,
in the gentlest of ways.
So teach me what He’s teaching you,
let me soften, let me mend.
Let the story that once scarred you,
be the place we both ascend.
Let His Word rebuild the meanings,
I twisted out of fear.
’Til “Unwanted” is just your testimony,
not the reason you are here.
And when you walk in purpose,
when my echoes fade to none.
You’ll see I wasn’t your enemy,
just the wound you’ve overcome.
And as the last lie shatters,
your praise will rise in sound.
Knowing it was the Love of God,
that turned Unwanted into Found.
